Billie Eilish expresses her frustration with the trend among artists who repeatedly release their albums with various record sleeves to boost sales. In a conversation with Billboard magazine, the 22-year-old singer refers to this practice as wasteful. She emphasizes her concern for the environment and sustainability, making it particularly irksome to her. Eilish criticizes the cycle of continuous re-releases aimed at maximizing profits, citing examples like The Rolling Stones' Hackney Diamonds, which saw a staggering 43 versions last year. She also points out similar tactics employed by artists such as Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift, who sometimes offer slight variations or bonus tracks to entice fans into multiple purchases. Eilish's stance reflects her values and highlights her disdain for what she sees as excessive and unnecessary consumerism within the music industry.

Billie Eilish has also participated in this trend. For her album "Happier Than Ever," she offered no less than 8 different versions. Despite her involvement, Eilish has been mindful of environmental concerns. She ensured that the records were crafted from 100% recycled black vinyl, utilized recycled scraps for the colored variants, and wrapped the records with shrink-wrapped sugar cane.
