Nick Cave, the acclaimed Australian artist, left a lasting impression on Prague's Metronome festival in the summer of 2022. "Whenever he approached the audience, dozens of hands reached out from below, embracing him, clutching him, and imploringly holding on to him," Aktuálně.cz reported at the time. Recently, Czech readers were treated to the book of interviews titled Faith, Hope, and Massacre, where Cave engaged with Irish musician and journalist Seán O'Hagan. The book, published by Argo, delves into Cave's thoughts and experiences.

Living in Britain, the 66-year-old artist continues to captivate audiences with his band, The Bad Seeds. Their latest full-length album, Ghosteen, was released in 2019, and they recently dropped the first single from their upcoming eighteenth studio album titled Wild God. "I hope it resonates with listeners the same way it does with me, engulfing me in its music. It's a complex yet profoundly uplifting record," Cave expressed on the Red Hand Files website, where he interacts with fans, describing the album as "full of secrets and intricate stories."

Cave shared that the band's creative process in the studio is fluid, with no predetermined outcome. "These albums reflect the emotional states of the creators and the musicians involved. Looking back, it feels like moments of happiness," Cave reflected. Scheduled for release on August 30, the album will feature ten tracks.

The new single, Wild God, was co-produced by Cave's longtime collaborator, violinist, and multi-instrumentalist Warren Ellis, with whom he previously released the joint album Carnage in 2021.

In addition to The Bad Seeds' members, the album also features contributions from Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood and guitarist Luis Almau.

On October 17, the ensemble, comprising Nick Cave, Thomas Wydler, Martyn Casey, Jim Sclavunos, Warren Ellis, and George Vjestica, will grace Prague's stage. Irish band The Murder Capital will set the tone as the opening act.

Nick Cave's renown has endured since the early 1990s, despite never clinching a Grammy award. However, his star could ascend even higher with the television adaptation of his novel, The Death of Zajda Munro. The miniseries will feature Matt Smith in the lead role, known for his roles in series such as Time Lord, Dragonborn, and The Crown, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

This year, The Bad Seeds are commemorating the 40th anniversary of their debut album, From Here To Eternity, released in 1984. Their connection with Prague dates back to September 1993 when they performed two concerts at Lucerna's grand hall with Nick Cave at the forefront.

This marked the beginning of Cave's dedicated fanbase in the Czech Republic, as noted by the ČTK agency. Over the years, local audiences have witnessed Cave's evolution from a fierce punk to a rock chansonnier and the mastermind behind timeless ballads.

The baritone vocalist continues to be industrious not just in music but also in literary and cinematic endeavors. His most commercially triumphant album to date is "Murder Ballads" from 1996, featuring the standout duet "Where The Wild Roses Grow" with pop sensation Kylie Minogue. Additionally, Cave has ventured into acting in several films, some of which he contributed music to. Notably, he appeared as both an actor and composer in films like "Wings of Desire," directed by Wim Wenders.

Metronome festival attendees at the Prague Exhibition Center have just wrapped up four bustling days. Among them, the charismatic rock luminary Nick Cave, accompanied by his band The Bad Seeds, delivered one of his most memorable concerts in the Czech Republic. Meanwhile, the alternative king Beck grappled with adverse weather conditions, and Lenka Dusilová worked her magic at Křižík's Fountain with her album Řek.

The record-breaking number of spectators and the eagerness of musical acts to perform lengthy sets were clear indicators of the longing for live music post-COVID. This year's Metronome festival offered numerous unforgettable experiences.

Following a Wednesday spotlighting Ukrainian artists, eagerly anticipated Thursday festivities commenced with a performance by Mňága and Ždorp. This set the stage for the more challenging material of Lenka Dusilová's live rendition of the album Řeka at Křižík's Fountain.

The allure of Nick Cave, the Australian prince of dark rock, unfolded at 10:30 as he took the main stage with The Bad Seeds, exclaiming, "Get ready for love!!!" Accompanied by a trio of female gospel vocalists, Cave engaged the audience with an irresistible energy. Despite the weight of personal tragedies, including the loss of his sons, Cave's performance was emotionally charged and artistically compelling.

In contrast, Beck's scheduled Friday night performance faced challenges due to extreme weather conditions, with meteorologists warning of heavy rainfall. Despite the delay, Beck's energy electrified the audience, even as they weathered the storm. The evening's events underscored the resilience and fervor of live music enthusiasts in the face of adversity.

The eight-time Grammy recipient took the stage an hour behind schedule. Despite the earlier downpour during Tata Boyz's performance, the audience endured to witness Beck's set. The delayed performance offered a polished show with nostalgic hits, albeit with some disappointment over potential half-playback. Nevertheless, Beck's long-awaited appearance garnered widespread praise. In summary, the four-day event was replete with lyrics, drama, and unexpected moments, making it a quintessential summer festival experience.
